DJX Radio
Just now, I'm working on a "Definitive Jux record label radio special" for the Copenhagen University radio. On Wednesday we will interview label co-founder and independent hip-hop pioneer El-P (picture) from the radio studios. The show will air February 17th @ 22:30 (10:30 PM) - 95,5 MHz - 95,2 Hybrid. Meanwhile, listening to the DJX catalog fills me with desperation, urgency... and joy.

"This is for kids worried about the apocalypse
Do something!
Prepare yourself
But stop talking shit!"

(El-P "Truancy" from Fantastic Damage")

Also, from the DJX camp - some music to download right here:

Celebrate the Past, Embrace the Future
Wauw, it's time for a serious update for my exclusive, little universe entitled 1976 Magazine. I'm proud to say that I've kept this site alive for more than a year know. Unless something unexpected (and proably tragic) should happen, 1976 Mgz will be even better in 2003. Stories, observations and links will still centre on valuable and interesting items from the wolds of music, business, technology/IT, design and anything streetwise. First I'd like to present the year-end music chart for year 2002:

Official Top 20 Chart for year 2002
(these tracks come highly recommendable - perhaps some of them will among your favorites this year)

1. FPU - Ocean Drive/Crocketts theme

2. Souls of Mischief - 93' till infinity

3. Malk de Koijn - Vi tager fuglen på dig

4. RJD2 - Smoke & Mirrors
5. Boards of Canada - Geogaddi (album)
6. N*E*R*D - Run to the sun (original version)
7/8. The Strokes - Is this it? (album)
7/8. The White Stripes - White blood cells (album)
9. Tiga & Zyntherius - Sunglasses at night
10. Felix da Housecat - Madame hollywood
11. Nate Dogg - Music & Me (album)
12. Ludacris - Area Codes
13. Clipse - Lord Willin' (album)
14. El-P - Deep Space 9mm
15. Spacemonkeyz vs. Gorillaz - Laika come home (album)
16. Morgan Geist - Lullaby
17. Snoop Dogg f. Pharell - Beautiful
18. 2300 S - untitled #1/#2 (white label unreleased)
19. Mr. Lif - I Phantom/Album sampler (album/sampler cd)
20. Dj Shadow - The private press (album)

I've played all this stuff to death, so know it's time for something new. Honorable mentions also goes out to: Sutrapumo (for their great live performances!), Large Professor & Nas - Stay Chisel (free mp3 download here), the long-awaited Cage album, the new Prince Paul opus and all the other great stuff I can't be bothered to mention (check Turbo Recordings at least).

Finally, Def Jux and Metro Area shows are reviewed in this January '03 article from the Village Voice.
