4-1-1 on Def Jux
Yo! Since I'm in charge of record label-Definitive Jux's street promotion activities in Copenhagen I thought it'd be a good idea to keep you posted on some of their recent media coverage:

"Since its inception, the Definitive Jux label has reigned as the high king of intelligent, talent-driven hip-hop. And with Mr. Lif's first full-length release on the label, the rule continues."
Oregan Daily Emerald

"El-P, the New York underground rapper whose album Fantastic Damage was released on Def Jux this year to critical acclaim, put out his first album in 1997 and resents talking about white rap. ''It's not a subject I feel like validating anymore,'' he told Rolling Stone."

Eye of the Tiga
Tiga should be releasing his DJ Kicks mix CD on Studio K7 November 2002 according Turbo Recordings’ website . K7's DJ Kicks-series is known for its high-quality and I'm sure this one won't disappoint either. Apparently it will contain a Tiga-version of "Hot In Herre". Hmmm.

Staying up-to-date, watch out for Tiga's monthy Top 10-list posted on his personal website (where you'll also find some of his videos + booking info). More charts.

Also, check out an interview with Tiga. Hot pick: "Dima / Vitalic on Gigolo....awesome EP called Poney EP"

FPU Returns
Turbo Records' recording artist Peter Benisch from Sweden has released the follow-up to my personal favorite of 2002, "Crocketts Theme/Ocean Drive". Especially the Tiga remix has been tearing up my system. The new track is called "Racer Car". Visit Turbo Presents for audio, video and more info on FPU.

"Salvation, here it is!"
Motreal.com

"The original mix is a later-night electro/techno crossover gem. Isolated corny compu-vocal samples for the dj's to indulge in. If there ever was anime-techno, this would be it."

"In many ways, electro is the true retro sound."

Morgan Geist
Hey, my old favorite, house-producer Morgan Geist (just check out his track "Lullaby" for evidence of his craftsmanship) is back with the repressed album "Metro Area" - released under the same name. In this interview Geist talks about his influences which include disco, boogie, techno, soul, and hip-hop. BBC.co.uk simply calls it "Album of the year...this record is the most refreshing, charming and down right electro-funking to have graced 2002.".

Also, check out his label, Environ Records that started in 1995 in the college town of Oberlin, Ohio. According to AllMusic.com, the label has released "excellent statements of purpose which showed his affinity for the more emotional, mid-tempo strains of house music as well as the spartan ethic of Detroit techno."
